What is Towards open, fair and sustainable Europe in the world – Presidency Project 2019 –2021?

“Towards open, fair and sustainable Europe in the world – Presidency Project 2019-2021” is a common project of NGOs from six European countries and CONCORD, the European confederation of Relief and Development NGOs. The project is implemented in two parts. In the first part the project partners are FOND from Romania, Fingo from Finland and Crosol from Croatia.
In the next 18 months FOND, Fingo and Crosol will work together to follow the presidencies and advocate for human rights, development policy, civil society and sustainable development in EU policy-making.

What are the objectives of this project?

This project has common objectives for all presidencies and it consist both national and European level activities. The overall objective of the project is to increase public support for open, fair and sustainable European policies. The four focus areas of the project are Agenda 2030 and policy coherence for sustainable development, European development cooperation, human rights and the role of civil society.

Why are NGOs cooperating in this project?

The following years will in many ways shape the future of the EU. Countries hosting the European Council presidency have a significant influence in these upcoming changes. European NGOs from these current and upcoming presidency countries work together to see human rights based, coherent policies aiming at well-being within planetary boundaries.

The EU Precidency Project is co-funded by the European Union.
