With just over a month left of Sweden’s EU presidency, and a year before the next European elections, CONCORD Sweden arranged a policy forum 24 May joined by CONCORD Europe and our sister platforms from Czech Republic FoRS and France Coordination SUD.

During the policy forum, we discussed shared experiences on how cooperation at EU level can help strengthen advocacy at national level, and how civil society organisations can work with and influence EU institutions.

From the left: Nicolas Paris, Coordination Sud, Corentin Martiniault, Coordination Sud, Celia Cranfield, CONCORD Europe, Pavel Pribyl, FoRS.

In a panel discussion, Pavel Pribyl, Executive Director at FoRS, Nicolas Paris, Advocacy Officer, and Corentin Martiniault, Project manager at Coordination Sud, and Celia Cranfield, Head of advocacy at CONCORD Europe, discussed successes and challenges from Brussels, Prague and Paris on influencing and advocating on EU level.

We also discussed plans for the upcoming EU elections and present preliminary findings from our mapping of Swedish MEPs’ engagement on our issues.

Benjamin Hauville, EU Policy Advisor and Ida Vanemo, Intern at CONCORD Sweden present a mapping of Swedish MEPs’ engagement on CONCORD Sweden’s focus areas; Enrivonmental and Climate Justice, EU and Swedish Aid, Business and Human Rights, Civic Space, Gender Equality, The Agenda 2030 and Policy Coherence for development, and Gender Equality
