The Portuguese NGDO Platform organizes the webinar “Development Cooperation: trends and perspectives”, on the 26th of March 2021 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm (GMT).

Over the past years, global dynamics have undergone major changes that have contributed to a complexification of the global governance system. The set of factors that have contributed to this – to which one should consider adding the disproportionate impacts of the coronavirus pandemic – pose serious challenges to the definition of foreign policy priorities of the different countries and thus to the design of development cooperation programs.

The Portuguese NGDO Platform organizes the webinar “Development Cooperation: trends and perspectives ”, within the project “Towards an open, fair and sustainable Europe in the world”, in order to discuss these dynamics, understand their implications and discuss possible approaches to the stakeholders.

The starting point of the event will be the intervention of the Platform’s president, Ana Patrícia Fonseca, who will present the concerns identified by Civil Society Organizations for the future of Development Cooperation. There will be a panel moderated by Luís Mah from ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics & Management, who will add to the debate the conclusions of the study “The Future of International Development Cooperation: fragmentation, adaptation and innovation in a changing world” to be published by the Portuguese NGDO Platform on the day of the event that will count on the participation of representatives of Civil Society, the European Commission, Instituto Camões, and the African Union (to be confirmed).

The session will be conducted both in Portuguese and English and simultaneous interpretation will be available.
