As part of the mission to contribute to a coherent and efficient policy of development and cooperation in Romania, and to strengthen the capacity of its member organisations, the Romanian NGDO platform launched a sub-granting mechanism call in December 2018, in the framework of the EU Presidency Project ”Towards open, fair and sustainable Europe in the world”. 6 member organisations were selected to implement raising awareness campaigns on the topic of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, during the mandate of the Romanian Presidency to the EU Council. Let’s start by getting to know New Horizon Foundation‘s campaign!

Their project aims to increase the awareness of 600 IMPACT young people from IMPACT clubs throughout Romania, administered by the New Horizons Foundation, on their contribution to the 2030 Agenda. Having this purpose in mind, the club members will implement service learning projects on Access to Clean Water and Hygiene, Health and Well-Being and Aquatic Life, with the support of club leaders and the involvement of members of their local communities. The project has an international component that connects clubs in Romania with those from the IMPACT international network, highlighting the link between the local, European and global levels of actions taking place under the umbrella of the Agenda 2030.

We generate IMPACT, what’s your super-power?

We hear you loud and clear! On the 1st of June 2019, the New Horizons Foundation is celebrating the International Children’s Day, or as they call it, the National IMPACT Day! Young people from all over Romania are invited to join the IMPACT movement for raising awareness on the topic of the 2030 Agenda, and here is what you need to know about the story, directly from the New Horizons Foundation:

” On the 1st of June, we are celebrating the ”IMPACT force”, placing on top the young people in which we can trust they have the willingness to make the world a better place. Our proposal is to celebrate together the National IMPACT Day, all the 180 clubs throughout the country!

Because IMPACT means learning most of all, we are encouraging you to pass the community little examples of what you know to do best. Show us how civic engagement can bring multiple personal and community returns! Distance unites us and makes us more visible! And for the 1st of June, we will move closer to each other on the Romanian map through our activities.

Put this moment at good use and raise awareness regarding the 2030 Agenda and the 17 SDGs, so you can increase the national public support for issues that affect the planet as a whole. Young people can easily mobilize the crowds to involve in civic activities!”

The projects are youth-led and youth-driven, they are learning how to be active citizens by using ”service learning” actions as a main method. Annually, IMPACT youth clubs are implementing around 200 projects per year, approaching different challenges like health, education, poverty, some of the SDGs we are talking about.
